How to make a website without coding? Choose the right website builder!
It happened. Creating a website is no longer out of reach for "ordinary users". You don't need to know how to code, dive into technical jargon, or hire a specialist. With a website builder from WebWave, you'll create your own place online quickly, simply, and professionally.
I'll walk you through this process step by step, and creating a website will turn out to be a piece of cake. But first, a word about the tool itself: why is it worth choosing?
Here are a few objective reasons:
It's one of the cheapest options on the market.
It's less complicated than the competition (e.g. WordPress or Webflow).
Websites created in WebWave get a free SSL certificate that guarantees their security.
The "drag and drop" editor lets you tailor the website to your needs and expectations.
Of course, these aren't all the builder's advantages, but I think that's enough for a start. So let's move on to how to use the tool's capabilities.
Can't wait? Neither can I!
If you want to create a website in a simple and effective way, choose WebWave's intuitive website builder
Step 1: Define the purpose of your website
Defining your website's purpose is just as important as setting a course for a ship leaving port. You don't want to drift here and there, even if you love sailing :)
It's the same with your website. It's true that it should be stunning and unique, but for it to fulfill its purpose, you need to define that purpose clearly. It will influence the rest of your decisions – from the site's structure to its graphics, style, and content.
For the purposes of this article, let's assume I want to start a language school. I employ a few people there and want to reach a wider group of clients. I need to build a website that will help me with that.
I've already chosen my website builder, so now it's time to focus on the purpose of the site. In my case, that will be generating leads, but also, indirectly, encouraging visitors to fill in the contact form or sign up for a first, free lesson.
On my website, I'll also want to include some information about the teaching method and the team. I think the Pro Plan from WebWave will be the best option for me. I choose it and move on to the next steps.
There are many ways to create your own website.
The first step toward your own website is defining its purpose
Step 2: Choose a domain name and hosting
It might seem that a web address is a secondary matter. Nothing could be further from the truth! Choosing a domain name is like choosing a company name. In both cases, it takes time to think it through. The name should be short, easy to remember, and easy to promote. Here are a few tips to make this task easier.
1. Choose a name that's easy to type
This is no place for experiments. Using slang words or abbreviations can confuse users. And if you decide to do it anyway, buy up the domains with likely typos right away. That way you'll be sure that even if a client types the address incorrectly, they'll still end up where they should.
2. Go for a short name
If you have to choose between a more complex name and a simpler one – go with the simpler one. Otherwise, you're once again increasing the risk that a client will type it wrong and end up not finding you. With domains, the rule is: the shorter, the better!
3. Use keywords
One way to choose the best name is to use your main keyword. Let me use my language school as an example. Users searching for my service might type phrases like: language learning, language school, English for beginners, and so on. Those are exactly the keywords I want to rank high for in search results. So why not pick one of them as the domain name?
4. Include your location
Do you operate mainly in a local market? You can include that information in your web address too! With my business, I want to reach mainly the residents of my area. So maybe the address "angielski.gdynia.pl" will be the best fit!
5. Avoid numbers and hyphens
Numbers and hyphens can be easily misread and always need extra clarification. Your client might forget about the extra character or be unsure whether to write a number as a digit or as a word. But let's be honest – there's no need to make a big deal out of it. If you really want a particular name, just register several variants of it to help users find you.
6. Make yourself memorable
Choosing a domain name can be quite a time-consuming task, especially since it has to be easy to remember. You might eventually decide you can't handle it alone.
And that's okay too. At a certain stage of creative work, an independent, outside perspective always comes in handy. Don't hesitate to ask friends for help! Let them tell you which names sound the most appealing and best fit your industry.
7. Choose the right extension
Extension? That's simply the .com, .pl, or .net tag at the end of every address. Choose one that really fits your business. The most popular one is, of course, .com, but for that very reason it's hard to find a unique domain with that ending. So consider other endings –
.pl,
.co (for companies and communities),
.info (for informational websites),
.net (for technology and internet infrastructure sites),
.org (non-profit organizations),
.biz (any type of business, including e-commerce stores).
Now, a moment of your attention, please! With WebWave you get a free .pl domain for a year if you choose a paid plan. That means all you have to do is think of a name, and connecting the domain will be child's play – and, most importantly, free.
But what about hosting? It's what makes your website work online. Your business needs enough storage space and bandwidth to handle content and automatic backups.
I won't bore you with technical details here. But there's one thing you should know: with WebWave you get free hosting tailored to your needs and the complexity of your site. Along with it, you'll get an SSL certificate (guaranteeing a high level of site security), constant monitoring, and protection against potential attacks.
My language school, and your business too, can breathe a sigh of relief!
Choose a domain name that's short, easy to remember, and easy to promote
Go for secure hosting that easily adapts to your needs and the complexity of your site
Step 3: Choose a template or try building your site with AI
I've already chosen my address (angielski-gdynia.pl) and secured my spot online. Time to see what the WebWave website builder has to offer when it comes to building the site.
In the tool, you can create a website in 3 ways:
from a "blank page" – you already have a vision of the site in your head and decide to bring it to life yourself. So you open the builder, add the right subpages, sections, and smaller elements. You set the color palette, add graphics, and fill in the content. The tool lets you build a site from scratch in a fairly simple way, mainly thanks to the "drag and drop" feature. There's no hiding it, though: this method is the most labor- and time-intensive. Still – if you feel like it, WebWave makes this option available!
by choosing a ready-made template – each one is designed by professional graphic designers and is responsive. Why does that matter? First, you can be sure the site will look good and fit current web design trends. Second, it will be a responsive website right away, meaning one that displays well on screens of all sizes (from smartphones to desktop computers). For the purposes of this article, I checked what WebWave has to offer for language schools. Here's the result of my investigation:
Show the Smart Concept template
by creating a website with the AI builder – definitely the simplest and fastest solution. All you have to do is type a short description of your dream website, then choose one of the 3 suggested templates. You then watch live as artificial intelligence generates your website step by step, complete with the necessary subpages, graphics, and content. Of course, you still have influence over its final look, but the bulk of the work has already been done for you. Here's how the AI builder worked in my case:
And let's be honest – some elements still need polishing. But the site is already good enough to publish! In my opinion, the result exceeds expectations.
What do you think about it?
You can build a website in WebWave in 3 different ways: from a "blank page", by choosing an editable template, or by generating it with AI
Choose one of the free templates and quickly build your website
Step 4: Start designing your website
It's normal that when you're building your first website, you think more about its visual aspects than its technical foundations. It's my job to remind you about that :) So before you even "see" your site online, prepare its design properly.
Sitemap
Start by carefully planning your website's architecture. The idea is that when a user lands on your site, they know how to navigate it and where to find the information they need. If you organize this well from the start, you'll not only improve user experience (UX) but also boost your site's ranking.
So grab a piece of paper and a pen, or open your favorite note-taking app. Then start building your own sitemap. Here are a few of my tips:
Start with the main subpages. List the ones that should be on your website. For my language school, that will be the homepage, "About Us", "Services", "Contact", and possibly "Blog". Honestly, this kind of structure works for most small businesses.
Switch to user mode and think: what would you look for on a similar site, and where would you expect to find it? For example, shouldn't the "Services" subpage include a detailed description and price list, and "Contact" a simple inquiry form and links to social media? Your potential clients will think the same way!
Color scheme
Designing your website is also worth starting with a choice of colors. Of course, for some this will be done by AI, and others will use the colors already used in a given template. But there's also a group of individualists who want to make their website more unique. What should you consider if you're one of them?
Your company's color palette should be consistent with your brand identity. Take color psychology into account here – colors really can trigger specific emotions and behaviors! Some associations come naturally: we associate red with energy and love, pastel colors look great on kindergarten and children's accessory store websites, while blue and gray create an atmosphere of professionalism and reliability.
So what did your intuition tell you?
The right fonts
Typography also affects how your website is perceived. And unfortunately, you can't rely solely on your own sense of aesthetics. Consistency matters much more. Browse different typefaces and choose the one that best fits your brand.
Keep in mind that font legibility also plays a major role – letters should display well on both large monitors and phone screens. That's why sans-serif fonts, meaning ones without small strokes at the ends of characters, tend to work better.
What will help you choose the ideal fonts? Sticking to these few simple tips:
Visit your favorite websites or platforms like Awwwards and get inspired by them.
Remember that less is more. So for a start, choose one, or at most two, typefaces.
Choose highly legible fonts, such as Helvetica, Verdana, Futura, or Arial.
Other brand elements
If you're approaching website creation professionally, you certainly don't want to skip the details. After all, they're what shapes the final impression of your website.
So a professional website can't do without:
Logo – it should not only represent your brand but also match the aesthetics of the site. If you don't want to design it yourself, choose one of the AI logo generators.
Favicon – a small icon that appears in the browser tab to the left of the URL. At WebWave, you'll not only learn how to create your own favicon, but you'll also easily add it to your site.
Start your website design by establishing the sitemap, color palette, and smaller brand elements

Step 5: Add the necessary sections and subpages
It's true that the number and content of subpages will vary depending on your website's purpose. But let's face it – some features will repeat whether you need a good portfolio or you're setting up an online store. And some will differ significantly.
I've made a cheat sheet for you that will help you choose what works best in your case.
Sections for all websites
When creating a website (regardless of its purpose), start by designing these sections:
Homepage: this is exactly what users see when they land on your site. It should therefore be interesting and visually appealing. On my example language school site, it looks like this:
There's an eye-catching tagline, an interesting photo. There's also a button encouraging conversion. You can use this as a model when trying to build your own website!
About Us/About Me: to convince anyone to work with you, you need to let them get to know you. Again, I'll refer to my language school example. You surely realize there are plenty of them in Gdynia. So on the "about us" page, I need to describe my own, convincing story. Show the user that it's really worth choosing my team. How did the WebWave AI builder handle this task? I have to admit it did quite well:
Of course, the texts still need editing, but the structure itself looks good – the user can learn about my team's approach to teaching and the methods we use. This will certainly help them decide on a course.
contact: Provide various ways to get in touch with you. Add a contact form that lets you answer all questions and show which products or services meet the user's needs.
As you can see, short answers to frequently asked questions were placed right below the form. The user might find one similar to the question they wanted to ask. This way you save both their time and your own!
privacy policy: it's worth building trust by explaining how you process user data and how you comply with regulations. Does this seem complicated? Don't worry, typing "privacy policy template" into a search engine will bring up plenty of helpful sites that make generating this kind of content easier.
footer: use it in the best way possible – place additional links and information here. You can repeat the most important content here or show areas not covered by the main menu (e.g. your address, a map, or links to social media profiles).
Additional subpages
Sometimes you'll need more pages. Choose the ones that seem essential in your case!
Blog: if you want to boost your authority as an industry expert or simply reach more clients, run a blog. One of the WebWave templates dedicated to this looks like this:
online store: if you run online sales, you'll need more subpages. Consider adding:
product pages – present your products in an attractive and aesthetic way. Show details, realistic photos, and add prices and customer reviews.
categories – sort your products into larger groups to make it easier for users to browse them.
sizes, shipping, and returns – provide customers with clear size charts and inform them about shipping and return policies; you can dedicate separate pages to this.
Once again, let's take a look at what template WebWave has prepared with online stores in mind. Here's one of the ready-made proposals for your business:
Portfolio: for a great self-presentation, you'll need the following subpages:
Project gallery – a visual overview of your best work; it's also the best way to showcase your skills and experience.
Individual project pages – if a particular project was especially demanding and complex, you can turn it into a case study. Provide a detailed description of the project, walk the user through your work process, and show what results it brought.
References – this is where you share positive reviews from your clients or contractors.
When creating a portfolio in the WebWave builder, you can choose one of the ready-made site designs, like this one:
Add the subpages that work best for your business to your website
Create a website on your own terms
Step 6: Add the content your target audience needs
The next step is filling the site with engaging content. This is preceded by a few actions, which I'll tell you about now.
Define your clients' needs
For a moment, try to put yourself in your potential client's shoes. Think: what information are they looking for? What would they like to find out?
You can gather quite a lot of knowledge on this topic if you:
listen carefully to your clients – recall the questions they often ask you, both in face-to-face conversations and in emails, text messages, or on social media;
search social media and online forums for threads related to your industry;
use tools such as Google Trends and the "People also ask" section in Google search results;
research your competitors – check the websites, FAQs, and blogs of competing sites;
organize a brainstorming session with your team;
use AI to generate topics for your target audience.
Create a list of topics you want to cover on your site. You can use longer blog content or a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section for this.
Conduct keyword research
Keywords are simply the phrases users type into a search engine. If you want your website to have a chance of breaking through, it should show up for popular keywords.
For this, use keyword research tools such as Senuto, Ahrefs, or... ChatGPT (if you don't want to spend money right away). Now think of one keyword that's most relevant to your business. For our example language school, that would be: "language school Gdynia".
Let's see what ChatGPT does with this phrase for me:
Here are the most important keywords related to the phrase "language school Gdynia":
Language school Gdynia
Language learning Gdynia
Language courses Gdynia
English Gdynia
Language lessons Gdynia
English courses Gdynia
German Gdynia course
Language school for adults Gdynia
Intensive language courses Gdynia
Language school for children Gdynia
Language school Gdynia city center
Private lessons Gdynia
Foreign language school Gdynia
Online language school Gdynia
Learning English Gdynia
Great! I now have 15 suggestions. I'll copy them into a spreadsheet and use them consistently throughout the site's content – they'll appear in headings, descriptions, and the offer.
Then I'll take the first 6 suggestions and ask AI to come up with blog article and FAQ ideas that might resonate with my users. Here's the result:
1. What language courses does the language school in Gdynia offer?

Step 7: Optimize your website for SEO
SEO optimization is essential if you want your website to be visible in search results. In short, it's about letting others find you. But how do you go about it? Let me explain!
Write compelling meta titles and meta descriptions
The meta title is the one highlighted in blue. It might not tug at your heartstrings, but – much more importantly – it contains the keywords most often searched for by users. Your meta title should also contain them, while being fairly short (up to 60 characters).
The meta description is a short summary displayed under the meta title. It should contain keywords, but it's also important that it's intriguing and concisely presents your offer. Here, you need to fit into about 160 characters.
Internal linking
Internal linking means connecting pages within your website with links. This might not make much sense to you, but remember that you're also trying to befriend Google's algorithm. And it will want to understand the connections between your content and identify the most important pieces. Make it easy! Link from subpages to your homepage. And if you run a blog, highlight 5-6 of your most important posts. Link all the other posts to those (of course, in line with their topics).
Example: on my language school blog, the main piece of content will be the post "Is it worth choosing an intensive language course in Gdynia? Here's what you need to know". I'll then create a few other posts less directly related to my offer. For example: "The best apps to support foreign language learning – our recommendations". I'll link the second one to the first, which will be a clear signal for Google.
Also keep in mind:
Using descriptive anchor text (instead of "click here", choose "language course in Gdynia");
Linking to relevant pages (don't link just for the sake of it, but to pages that are topically related);
Distributing links naturally throughout the content (instead of cramming them into a single paragraph).
This kind of website optimization is a free way to attract clients!
Image optimization
Once again, let's try to understand Google's algorithm. It can't literally see images – it has to "read" them. If they're properly described, they can become visible, which means they'll show up in image search results. That's another opportunity to increase traffic to your site! Better not miss it.
Take care of image SEO by:
descriptive file names: instead of jpg0004, name the image "red-platform-shoes";
add alt text: where possible, include keywords in it; it can be the same as the file name;
compress: large files slow down your site, which can make it load more slowly – to avoid this, use image optimization tools such as Tinyjpg or Ezgif.com.
The WebWave builder makes it very easy to create image descriptions.
Click on the image you want to optimize. The "Element" tab appears in the side menu. Click "Image settings".
2. Then select "SEO alt text" and type your description into the appropriate field.
Submit your website to Google Search Console
Maybe your website already exists on paper. Or, following my guide step by step, you've even gone ahead and built your own website. Time to whisper in Uncle Google's ear that you have something to show off!
Start by submitting your website to the free Google Search Console platform. You can learn how to submit your sitemap from our guide. If you run into any problems or doubts, write to our support team! Those people are known for their willingness to help and their extensive knowledge of building websites with WebWave.
And one more reminder from me – every new subpage, update, or new blog post is worth indexing in Google Search Console. Fortunately, this is child's play. Just log in to your panel. Paste the address in this spot:
And press "Enter". Then click "Request indexing":
And that's it! :)
Analysis with the SEO Analyzer
Finally, make use of the WebWave website builder's capabilities. It has a built-in tool – the SEO Analyzer – that checks basic optimization factors. To check the health of your site, click on the subpage in the Settings panel (each subpage is analyzed separately). Then go to SEO Settings.
If your meta title and meta description haven't been filled in yet, this is a good moment to catch up on that. Then click the "Run SEO analysis" button
Enter the keyword phrase you chose earlier. In my case, that's: language learning in Gdynia.
Click the green "Check SEO" button. I wonder how it looks for me…
I definitely have things to work on. But I'm glad I know what to improve so my site becomes more visible!
Adapting to mobile devices
Most users browse websites on their smartphones. So your site needs to display well on every screen. Yes, that's exactly what responsiveness means. Fortunately, the WebWave builder lets you adapt your site in just a few minutes.
As you probably remember, I used the AI builder to create my language school site. I liked the result, but I hadn't yet checked how the site looks on smaller screens. So I open the Webmaster Panel and find the right buttons.
I click through every screen size and... everything works the way it should. I found a few graphics that should be smaller, but resizing and repositioning them isn't difficult at all. It's never been easier!
Optimize your website: fill in the meta title and description, link your pages together, optimize images, submit your site to Google Search Console, and take care of its SEO and responsiveness

Step 8: Check and publish your own website
Time to put yourself in the user's shoes again. You can do this yourself, or you can ask a friend with an eye for detail. Your task: check that everything works smoothly and identify any potential problems.
You can do this by following the list below:
Click every link and button on the site to make sure they work properly and lead to the right places.
Read the content once more. Try to catch mistakes, typos, or awkward phrasing. A tool like Ortograf.pl can help you with this
Open the site on every device you have available – desktop computer, tablet, and phone. Make sure it displays properly.
Run a page speed testing tool (e.g. Google PageSpeed Insights) and check how quickly the site loads. If the result is over 2-3 seconds, go back to the site and remove the "heaviest" elements. These could include unnecessary animations or videos.
Tests went well? Time to publish your website! You'll find the right button in the top right corner of the Webmaster Panel:
Before you publish your website, review it once more for any potential errors and glitches
Step 9: Promote your website
You did it! Building your own website is now behind you. It's worth showing off!
You have at least a few ways to market effectively. Here are the ones worth starting with:
Guest blogging: by now you probably know your industry a bit, and maybe you even regularly read your competitors' blogs. Why not try writing something for them? Reach out to a publisher, offering a high-quality blog post that complements their content. Don't forget to link to your own website in the text. It's not only a good way to advertise, but also a signal to Google that your site is valuable (since other valuable sites link to it).
- Social media: choose the platforms that best fit your industry:
- Facebook, if you want to reach other businesses and consumers. The platform has a dedicated marketing space with ad targeting options. That means your campaigns won't be launched at random, but aimed at a specific type of user.
- X (Twitter) – here you can create content around popular topics. If you're able to connect that to your business, definitely set up an account on the platform!
- Instagram – a place where millennials and Gen Z especially feel right at home. Is that your target audience? Great! Create interesting visual content and short videos for them, and of course, promote your website.
- TikTok – this is where the younger generation (born after 2000) feels most at home. You'll do well on TikTok if you like recording short videos and can commit to collaborating with other influencers.
- LinkedIn – a platform for professionals and B2B marketing. Establish yourself as an industry expert by creating articles, long-form posts, and company news. It's also an excellent place to build new connections and reach further audiences.
Google Business Profile: a simple marketing tool that improves your visibility in a given location and drives more traffic to your site. Remember to add your website address in the right place. And if you're interested in local marketing, read about Google Business Profiles in another of my posts.
Email marketing: whether your goal was to start a blog or grow a large e-commerce business – in either case, building and maintaining strong relationships with users is essential. And there's no more effective tool for that than email marketing! Send newsletters, create engaging messages, and share news. Your users will quickly get used to this kind of correspondence, and might even eagerly wait for your next email!
Paid ads: pay-per-click (PPC) ads work on the principle that you pay a set amount each time someone clicks on an ad banner. In other words, you're buying visits to your site. The most popular tool for this is Google Ads. It's worth considering this option when growing your business!
Giveaways: who doesn't like them? You can come up with a contest (e.g. sharing your profile with 20 other people) and offer a valuable service or product in return. You could also offer a 5% discount to anyone who signs up for your newsletter or decides to make a purchase within a few hours. Remember to design an engaging landing page with a compelling call to action!
Harness the power of social media!
Promote your business on other blogs, on social media, on Google Business Profile, as well as through email marketing, paid ads, and promotional campaigns

Your website must be responsive to rank high in search results
Step 10: Build good habits for website maintenance
Phew, most of the work is behind you now. You can open the champagne and... draw up a list of weekly and monthly tasks. Yes, it's not enough to set up a website and promote it. You also need to take care of it regularly (like everything that matters to us in life).
Don't worry, there isn't that much work, and it can be summed up in this short list:
Analyze: connect your website to Google Analytics and regularly check which content performs best and how visitors behave. This knowledge will let you make your next moves more consciously and purposefully;
Update: over time you might notice that your site gets fewer visits than at the start. Think about what could be causing that, and improve things – fix the menu, work on your keywords, and regularly add content that users are searching for;
Review content: check what's still missing on your site and how well your images and videos load;
Audit the whole website: check how your site looks on different devices and whether it loads too slowly. Click every link to check it isn't broken. Finally, make sure all pages are indexed in Google Search Console.
Google Search Console lets you conduct an in-depth analysis of your website.
Every month, audit your website and update outdated content
SEO is essential if you want users to find your website
Ranking a website requires constantly adapting to the trends set by Google
